The 1850 has two Josephs: this one, living with his parents, and Joseph N in Guilford Co NC.
Find-a-Grave has a picture of the grave stone of the one in KS, who died in 1871. It shows his middle initial as N, so he must be the one from Guilford Co.
This Joseph must have died before 1860.
