DANIEL DUNIKIN, Rev. Pension Application, S-18819 (FHL film 970,867; SLC 9/15/84)
Applied 6 Sept. 1819, age 67, in Greene Co. TN; enlisted Jan. or Feb. 1776 in Amherst Co. VA under Capt. Cabell/Cahill, Col. Buckner, for 2 years; transferred under Col. M?. Donohoe of Augusta Co., Capt./Col. Joseph Crocket; transferred Col. Russel ..., Col. Ball, Capt. Wm. White; age 68 on 23 Oct. 1820, has wife living and has had 17 children, 8 now living with him and principally small.
(Additional information: Amherst Co. VA Deed Book H, p.290, 16 Oct. 1797, Danl. Duncan and wife Elizabeth of Amherst Co. to Pleasant Dawson of SC, ?, 224a, 2 adj. tracts on S. side Marrowbone Mt., on lines of Jno. Matthews, Wm. Bowman, Jno. Sanders, Matt. Phillips decd; wit. Francis West, Nichl. West, Peggy West. Other deeds in Amherst Co. VA spell his last name variously as Dunakan, Dunncan, etc. Daniel Donnekin married Mary Wright on 13 Jan. 1802 in Greene Co. TN; she was the daughter of Jeremiah Duncan and Rebecca Hendry from Botetourt Co. VA to Greene Co. TN whose children are listed in the estate records of her brother David Duncan in 1852 in Madison Co. AL)

Pg.912-3: 1890, Jan. 24 -- John Dunagan died near Waldron. THE DUNAGAN FAMILY. Daniel Dunagan, ancestor of the family, came from Ireland in 1780, and married Mary Duncan. He was a patriot soldier in the latter years of the Revolution. Most of the children came to Platte, and settled near Waldron. Children: (1) Daniel Dunagan settled in Newton Co. MO. (2) James Dunagan, b. Oct. 25, 1804, in Greene Co. TN; m. Elizabeth Ann Logan, b. Feb. 17, 1814, dau. of W.A. Joseph Dunagan, d. in March 1863; m. in Clay Co. Mary Davis, and came to Platte in 1837. (3) Andrew Dunagan, d. in Clay in 1833. (4) John Dunagan, b. Sept. 11, 1814; d. Jan. 24, 1890; m. Mary Logan, dau. of W.A. (5) Elizabeth Dunagan, m. Ira Ellis and lives in Newton Co. MO. (6) Nicholas Dunagan was a child of Daniel's first wife, who was a West, and they lived in TN. (MAD: another daughter named in the estate of David Duncan in Madison Co. AL was Mary Ann Enoch, wife of John Enoch; they have not been located in MO in 1850 census index.)
