This really should be him, as it is next door to William D M Sharp, his brother:

If the 1850 and 1860 entries are him, it looks like he had two wives. Apparently Rebecca is dead before 1840. He still should have at least three daughters in 1840, though.
Note that this Benjamin's son Isaac is in Montgomery Co IN on the 1850 census.
However,
This RootsWeb entry says that the Benjamin who married Elizabeth was s/o Benjamin Sharp 1760 MD + Elizabeth Wright, and lists children as the above census entries. Elizabeth's last name is given as Harrison.
A tree that no longer exists had the will of the older Benjamin. He had a son Benjamin, but no son William.
The 1840 to 1860 censuses show only one Benjamin Sharp in Montgomery Co IN.
William D M Sharp is back in Harrison Co IN with the rest of his siblings from 1850 on.
In Casey Co KY on the 1880 census is Benjamin Sharp 84 KY/MD/MD with wife Elizabeth 69.
On the 1850 census this Benjamin is also in Casey Co. His wife appears to be Sarah 38 KY.
On the 1860 census, also in Casey Co, his wife is Elizabeth 49. He is shown born in Lincoln Co KY.
He is also in Casey Co on the 1870 census with wife Elizabeth.
