At the age of twenty-one, he left home and went to Alabama, and there studied for the ministry. Traveled and preached for seven or eight years. Was preacher in the Cumberland Presbyterian church, also a physician in Cincinnati, Ark. He traveled through Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North and South Carolina, and later moved to Missouri, where he remained two years, going from there to Cane Hill, Ark.
