A descendant of John Stanton Hinds has sent a copy of an old family genealogy paper. The paper says this Simeon was born 1801, son of John Hinds 1755 ENG d 1845 TN.
1801 seems too early to be the father of these children, though, even from a second marriage. It also is not consistent with his census entries.
