He appears to be related to Hiram B Willoughby.
On the 1860 census this James is living with his mother Martha, next to Hiram. All Hiram's children are
accounted for except William, who died in 1854. William would have been about 13 when James was
born, so can't be James' father.

His death record gives his parents as John + Martha, and that he was born in Warren Co.
No John closely related to Hiram could be his father. I don't have another John who could work either.
The only John in Warren Co on the 1850 census old enough is John Armstrong, but he didn't have a son James and his wife was Anna.
The only Martha Willoughby in KY on the 1850 census old enough is Hiram's daughter. Could James be her son out of wedlock?
