The Missouri State Archives online database has two James Hindses from Warrenton MO who served in the Civil War for the Union.
One was a Private in 59th Regiment of the Enrolled MO Militia, Company F.
He was ordered into active service 1862-08-10, and was relieved from duty 1862-09-30.
The other was a Private in the 49th Regiment Infantry Volunteers, Compandy D.
He enlisted 1864-12-06, and was mustered in 1864-12-22. He transferred to Company K 1865-07-14, and was mustered out 1865-12-05.
This was the only James Hinds in Warren Co MO in 1860, so presumably both of the above are him.
