from genforum message 403:

William Frances Hinds came to Oklahoma to stake a claim during the land run. We think
that he came with other male family members. We know that eventually the following
people ended up in Custer County: Elisha Manuel Baker, Cora Bell Baker, Sarah Ann
Baker, Rosa Catherine Baker, Charles Parker Baker. We also know that Elija Died in
Custer County. According to Patricia Baker Dickson Arthur (as told to her by her
mother), the family brought a piano, books, and clothes in a covered wagon from
Nebraska to Oklahoma. Frank Hinds established one of the first trading posts in the
territory. His wife, Sarah Ann Baker Hinds, established a school and taught in it. She also
recalls hearing that Frank and a brother-in-law cut timber, to be used to build their
houses, and hauled it 20 miles (an overnight trip) in a wagon to a saw mill.
