Notes:
Some trees say she is a daughter of James Orton 1725 and Jane Bryan, but his will lists his daughters as Rachel and Rebecca.

Another researcher sends:
James and Jane are the only Orton family in the area at the time. No one has proven Rachel and Rebecca were twins. This information, as well as the BRYAN surname for their mother, Jane, is taken from a manufactured transcript of an ORTON Family Bible.
James' will of 1775-10-31 mentions wife Jane, sons James, John, and Joseph, and daughters Rebecca and Rachel. Apparently Rachel never married. There are two other Orton brides in Rowan Co: Mary Jane who married Samuel Hughey, and Sarah who married 1772 Matthew Wilson. Since neither of these daughters is mentioned in the will, we have to assume either they got their "dower" from their father when they married and were due nothing more from his estate OR they had died, supposedly childless, by 1775 for no grand children are mentioned in the will either.

I have DNA matches to people supposedly from James and Jane's children James, Sarah, John, and Joseph.
--
Samuel Hughey's will leaves the home to wife "Mary". The Orton researcher reports that Mary was not used as a woman's name in the Orton line. It looks like Jane died before 1775. I'm not sure which, if any, of Samuel's children are hers.
