Notes:

His will was probated 1790, and his father's will of 1790-01 refers to him as "deceased son Samuel".

--
There is also a Samuel Hughey born Brunswick Co VA abt 1760, son of John Hughey. (John Hughey is brother of Henry Hughey.)

--
from a message at HUGHEY@egroups.com, from Linda Laminack, ** Samuel Hughey m Mary Jane Ortan 26 June 1769; Benjamin Hide, bondsman.
Thomas Frohock, witness. With consent from James Ortan and Henry Hughey,
witnessed by James Withrow, Robert Hughey.

An Orton researcher sends that the marriage record shows Jane Orton, not Mary Jane. The researcher also states that Mary was not used as a woman's name on the Orton line.
It appears that Jane died before 1775 (see her notes). Samuel must have then re-married a Mary before 1780. (Perhaps his new marriage prompted the will.) He seems to have died in late 1789, since his will was probated in 1790 and his father's will of 1790-01 refers to him as deceased. His father's will (see his notes) also refers to Samuel's children as orphans, so apparently Mary was also dead.
Depending on when Jane died, she might not be the mother of some or any of Samuel's children. I have Anne's birthdate as 1769 (though this is probably wrong), so for now I'm leaving her as daughter of Jane.
