Samuel Eddy, son of William Eddye, was born in May, 1608, died 1685. He was the immigrant ancestor. On August 10, 1630, with his brother John, he left London, England, in the ship "Handmaid," Captain John Grant, arriving at Plymouth, Massachusetts, October 29, 1630. He settled in Plymouth, and on January 1, 1632, was made freeman.

The twenty fourth of March 1662
Memorand: That Samuell Eedey senir: of the Towne of Plymouth in the Jurisdiction
of Plymouth in New England in America Tayler Doth acknowlidge that hee
hath and Doth freely by these prsents give graunt allianate and make over
unto his two sonns viz: Zacariah Eedey and Obadiah Eedey all that his share
lott and porton of land which hee hath in the land graunted and Confiermed
by the Court in June last past before the Date heerof; unto sundry psons;
lying neare unto Namassakett bounded as in the Indian Deeds of the said
lands is att large expressed; To have and to hold all the said Samuel Eedey
his lott Share and protion of the aforsaid Tract of land both upland and
meddow with all and singulare the appurtenances therunto belonging; unto
the said Zacariah Eedey and Obadiah Eedey to them and each of them theire
and each of theire heires and assignes for ever to bee equally Devided
betwixt them the said Zacariah Eedey and Obadiah Eedey in equall proportions;
Provided and excepting tht hee the said Samuel Eedey Doth by these prsents
reserve unto his owne use six acrees of the upland of the said lott of
land viz: out of his whole Intire said share of land to bee for his use
whiles hee liveth; to be taken out of the whole said Sare of land in any
pte thereof where hee shall thinke meet; before it is Devided betwixt his
said sons; and incase hee shall see meet for the time of his life to place
any other to Improve the said six acrees of land in his behalfe; it shalbee
with theire likeing and approbation; and att the Decease of the said Samuell
Eedey the said six acrees of land to returne unto the onely proper use
and behoofe of the said Zacariah and Obadiah Eedey to them and theire heires
and assignes forever; morover the said Samuell Eedey Doth Condition with
his said sonnes tht they shall winter for him yearely three Cowes; (if
hee have soe many) or shall see Cause to Desire it of them; the siad provisoes
reservations and Conditions observed The said prmises with all and singulare
the woods waters and all other the appurtenances belonging therunto or
to any pte or pcell therof with all the said Samuell Eedey his right title
and Interest of and into the same; to belong unto the onely proper use
and behoofe of them the said Zacariah and Obadiah Eedey to them and theire
heires and assignes for ever To them the said Zacariah and Obadiah Eedey
to themand each of them; theire and and each of theire heires and Assignes
forever;
It was mutually agreed before the rattification of the premises by and
between the said Samuell Eedey and Zachariah Eedey that incase Caleb Eedey
shall Desire a quarter prte of the above said land hee shall have it.
The 26 of February 1672, Samuell Eedey abovesaid Came before the Govr:
and Mr Hinckley and owned and acknolidge the abovesaid Conveyanc of land
to be his acte and Deed, and Doeth heerby fully rattify and Confeirme the
same according to the tearmes and Conditions abovesaid.
