He was a housewright in early life. In 1692 he purchased of Thomas Lewis, of Mendon, several tracts of land and a dwelling house in "New Bristoll," Mass. (now Bristol, R.I.) and resided there. In 1701 he sold this property and purchased a farm in Taunton, Mass., incluing [sic] a water privilege on Three Mile River, where with Nathaniel Linkon, he built a grist mill and saw mill; the location was known for about a hundred years as "Andrews' Mills"--now Westville. Here he resided the remainder of his life. Capt. Andrews held various town offices; was chairman of the board of selectmen four years; also deputy sheriff; a man highly esteemed. He died July 25, 1742, at the age of 80 years. He married Alice, daughter of John and Alice (Phillips) Shaw, of Weymouth, Mass.; she was born July 6, 1666; and died Feb. , 1735, aged 69 years. He married second, May 20, 1736, Mary, widow of Jacob Barney, and daughter of Rev. Samuel Danforth, the fourth minister of Taunton; by her he had no children.
