Notes:

[R17.1]

A few web pages give his name as John Thomas or James Thomas, but no records I've seen show a
second name or even initial for him.

--
married Aggie in Orange Co NC
married Lina in Lawrence Co KY

Many trees say he also married 1807 Mopsy Gittson, but I think that is a mistake.
Marriage records for Washington Co TN show "Mapy Gittson" marrying 1807-08-07 James Rigsby. This
Thomas was not in that area. He was in Orange Co NC at least until 1801; then moved to Ashe/Wilkes
Co NC, where he lived until the 1820s; then moved to Lawrence Co KY. It's highly unlikely he would
have been in Washington Co TN in 1807.
Aggie Smith lived until 1830, and Thomas's wife on the census matches her up until then. "Mapy" was
born about 1791, which doesn't match the census.
I think the James was this one, son of Thomas 1760.
I also think the bride's name was mis-transcribed, and that she is actually Mercy Tillson, who is
descended from my ancestor George Dungan.

--
He has to be the father of Charity. She married in 1830 in Lawrence Co, and the only two Rigsby families
in the county at the time were this Thomas and his son Lewis. Thomas did have a daughter of the
approximate age of the Charity who married.

--
Did he have a daughter Martha?
There was a Martha Riggsby who married c1840 Ira Deboard s/o Isaac Deboard and seems to have
lived in Lawrence Co KY. Thomas' children were the only Rigsbys in Lawrence Co, so Martha should
be related to him. But his census entries don't show a daughter the right age.

--
He was a farmer.
