Notes:
Suffolk Administrations, Liber AB, p9, file 28
1788-03-31: Adm of the estate of Daniel Jones late of Brookhaven, Co Suffolk, yeoman, died intestate.
Granted to Eliakim Jones of same place, yeoman, a Son in law of said Daniel Jones decd, as Admor.
It says "son-in-law", not son. That would imply Daniel is Ruth's father, not Eliakim's.
--
Some trees say this is Daniel Jones who married Bethia Luce, but that's pretty unlikely. Daniel and Bethia lived in the Setauket area, on the north side of Long Island. Eliakim lived in the Patchogue area, on the south side. One of the signers of the above letter of administration was Seth Scribner, who is known to have lived in the Patchogue area.
Also, Bethia Luce is supposed to have been born in 1765, so she couldn't be Eliakim's mother.

This looks very promising:
E Hampton, Suffolk Co NY marriages:
1721-09-21 Daniel Jones + Rachel Conkling daughter of John Conkling
Rachel was born about 1695. According to Ancestry trees, her parents were John Conklin + Rachel Hedges. John Conklin had a brother Eliakim Conklin.
Rachel is a little too old to be Eliakim's mother, but she could be his grandmother.

Edward Jones
Origin unknown; Migration 1630; First Residence Charlestown; Freeman 1631-05-17 (as "Mr Edw: Jones")
married Anna (unknown); children: Mary, Elizabeth
Many secondary sources argue that this Edward Jones is the same man who appears in the early 1640s at Southampton on Long Island. This is a very attractive hypothesis, but it remains unproved. An important consideration is the apparent difference in social status between the two men; Edward Jones of Southampton is almost always awarded the honorific "Mr", while Edward Jones of Charlestown is not.

This Daniel could be the son of Daniel + Rachel listed above. When they removed from East Hampton, they could have gone to CT. Eliakim's daughter Mary says he was born in CT. If Daniel and Rachel moved there while this Daniel was a boy, he could have married and had children there before moving back to Long Island.
On the other hand, when they left East Hampton they could have just gone directly to Brookhaven.

Is this him? Or is it the Daniel who married Hannah?
