The 1820 census for Botetourt also shows William D Armstrong with 6 sons and 4 daughters, and Phares Armstrong with a son and a daughter or daughter-in-law.
The 1830 shows Faris with the same household and a new child. William 60-70 has a wife 30-40 and young daughter. Besides Thomas, there's also Allen 30-40, David 30-40 with a second male 30-40, and Stephen (a free black). I would guess Allen is Alexander, and that he, David, and the other are William D's children.
The 1840 shows just Thomas, Thomas Jr, William, and Isaac.
