There are four men named Joseph Wood age 61 on the 1850 census, but only one born in NC. That one is in San Augustine Co TX in the household of a Reuben Wood age 39.
I am assuming that Reuben was a son of this Joseph. I may be wrong, though. This Joseph had a brother John L Wood who is supposed to have had a son Reuben D Wood. Genforum message 11304 says John's son Reuben lived in TX. Conceivably Joseph could be living with a nephew rather than a son.

Son Reuben probably should be with them, and I don't know who the younger children could be.
