Notes:

Our family lore says his name was Carter Carl Beshears, but I can't find any evidence for such a person.
I find him on the 1870 census as Carl Brashear, living next to Mary Jane's brother James.
Following the family backwards to the 1860 and 1850 censuses, I find him listed as William C Beshears. William always lived near my Hinds family, and his children from the 1860 census match Carl's children from 1870.

Some RootsWeb trees show the wife of William C Brashears as Mary Wood, but none has any proof or further information on her. However, the death certificate for William Columbus Beshears says William's parents were Carter Beshears + Mary Ann Hines. Also, DNA of a descendant of this family matches me.
