WILL OF ALEXANDER WARFIELD of Anne Arundel Co.,
dated 21 Feb 1733, Proved 11 June 1740


The twenty first Day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and thirty three.
I, Alexander Warfield of Anne Arundel County being sick in body but of good and disposing memory
do make constitute and Declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following, revoking
and annulling by these presents all and every Testament and Testaments, Will and Wills heretofore
by me made or declared either by word or writing and this is to be taken only for my last will and testament
and none other.

first I will that all those Debts that I justly owe in right or conscience to any manner of person
whatsoever shall be well and truly contended and paid within convenient time after my
decease by my Executor following named.

Item - I constitute and appoint my loving wife Sarah Warfield and my loving
son Absolute Warfield to be my whole and sole Executors of this my last will
and testament.

Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Samuel Warfield His
Dwelling Plantation wherein he now doth Dwell together with all the tract of
Land thereunto belonging called Ben's Discovery containing three hundred and
eighty acres together with one other tract thereunto adjoining called
Warfield Addition containing fifty acres to him During his natural life and
then to fall to his two Eldest Sons John Warfield and Samuel Warfield to be
equally Divided To them and their Heirs for Ever. I likewise give my son
Samuel Warfield all the Household goods and stock which I have already
possessed him with which is in full of his part of my Estate that he shall
not have any claims or demand after my decease against my Estate. My will is
further if my son Samuel Warfield's wife Sarah Warfield should survive him
in this life during the continuance of her widowhood that she shall have
full liberty to live upon the land whereon she now doth Dwell and is
occupying for the benefit of herself and children and not otherwise.

Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Alexander Warfield his
Dwelling Plantation whereon he now doth Dwell together with all that part of
my land called Ennison part laying between Potuxon River and a branch called
Hammond Great Branch and the Easternmost lane of Warfield ________ and to
him during his natural life and other lawful heirs of his body begotten and
for want of such heirs then to fall to my son Absolute Warfield and his
heirs for Ever. I likewise give to my said son Alexander all the Household
goods and stock wherewith I have already possessed him which is in full of
his part of my said Estate. So after my decease he shall not have any claim
to any other part or parcel thereto.

Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved Son Absolute Warfield all the
remaining part of my tract of land called Venison Park excepting four
hundred acres already _________ to Edmund Warfield and Philip Warfield. To
him during his natural life and to the lawful heirs of his Body begotten and
for want of such heirs thereto falls to my son Alexander Warfield and his
heirs for Ever.

Item - I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Richard Warfield my
Dwelling Plantation whereon I now do live (after my wife's decease) to him
during his natural life and to the lawful heirs of his body begotten and for
want of such Heirs then to fall to which one of his brothers or brothers'
son which he shall think fit to appoint to him and his heirs for Ever and it
is further my will that my said son Richard shall be of full age to work for
himself and reap the benefit of his labour at eighteen years and to dwell in
my now Dwelling house with his mother and if my now wife should intermarry
after my decease then my Authority after he arrive to the age of twenty one
years to have full power and authority to possess and inherit one-half of my
now dwelling house with all other privileges of the said Land belong to him
according to him according to law.

Item - My will is that my Quarter plantation be disposed of to the best
bidder by my Executors whom I give full power and authority to confirm and
to make over to the purchaser thereof.

Item - I give to my loving wife Sarah Warfield my Negroe woman named Kate
over and above the third part of my personal Estate to her During the
continuance of her widowhood but in case my wife intermarry's again then my
will is that she pay to my three daughters viz. Rachel Warfield, Sarah
Warfield and Katherine Warfield to be Equally Divided amongst them the sum
of money as the said negroe was appraised at.

Item - I give and bequeath to each and every one of my daughters viz. Rachel
Warfield, Sarah Warfield and Katherine Warfield twenty pounds currant money
apiece over and above their equal part of my personal estate.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the Day
and year above written.

June the 11th so came Richard Warfield, and Augustine Marriott, ____
Marriott, Augustine Gambrill subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will
being duly sworn on the Holy Evangel of Almighty God Do depose that they saw
Alexander Warfield the Testator sign and seal the foregoing will and heard
him publish and declare the same to be the Will and Testament that at the
time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehension of sound and
disposing mind and memory; that they subscribed their respective names as
witnesses to this will in the presence of the Testator at his request; that
at the same time they saw William Lebone sign and witness to the Will in the
presence of the Testator at his request.
Sworn before me the day and year of our Lord seventeen hundred forty.
