On the 1850 census that Alexander is living with wife Elizabeth 25 and son James C 1 in his father's
household, listed on page 205b in Blair Co PA. Elizabeth's father is on p207a.
The only other wife Elizabeth of about the same age in the same township was born in Ireland.
Of course, she could have left the township or county after marrying.

Trees at Ancestry.com say Alex's wife was Elizabeth R Wilson or Smith.
