But now I have changed my mind.
This RootsWeb entry says the John Hinds of Menard Co was s/o John Hinds + Rebecca Robinson of VA.
This RootsWeb entry says John of Menard Co was s/o Samuel Hinds + Margaret Willis Arnold of VA.
Both say his wife was Sarah Pemberton, and that he was born in Garrard Co KY. His children are shown
born in Barren Co KY (early 1820s), then TN (late 1820s to 1834), then IL.
On the 1820 census there was a Rebecca Hines in Garrard Co KY.
On the 1830 census there are 4 John Hindses and one John Hines in TN. Two of those are from my
family. The others, in Henry, Maury, and Smith Co, are all the right age. But this John is in Fayette Co IL,
I'm pretty sure, with his siblings.
On the 1840 census there are two John Hineses in IL, in La Salle and Ogle Cos. Neither county is very
close to Fayette or Menard.
The John in Menard Co in 1850 was born in KY, but this John was born in NC.
On the whole, I think this John is not the one in Menard Co.
