Several RootsWeb entries give his death date as 1837-11-23. Probate minutes for his father's
estate suggest he was alive in late 1838.
The book "Historical Caldwell County" says that he died in 1841.
I bet the 1837 date is really for his second cousin Levi S Hinds,

Somewhere I read that Matthew and Ezekiel were born in TX, but that seems to be incorrect.
