Somewhere I saw her birthdate as 1676, but the MD Chancery Court records have the 1667 date.

The Canning family appears to come from Northern Ireland. There was at least one branch that moved to England. The Canning family in Garvagh, Coleraine, Londonderry Co, N Ireland, had a descendant who was Prime Minister.
George Canning had arrived in Ireland in 1614 and built Agivey Castle. George's g-g-grandfather was Lord Mayor in London in 1456. George's son Paul Canning moved to Garvagh in 1647 and started to build a town on the present site.

There is a very interesting book by local man R.W. Patterson, published by Garvagh Historical Society and printed by Impact Printing, Coleraine and Ballycastle. It contains loads of photographs, interesting stories and a Canning family tree.
