I originally found that she died 1879-08-24, after having a son Charley, but that apparently is wrong.
The 1880 census for Laclede Co MO shows Richard Massey 23 MO married within the current year to Martha Elizabeth, and they have no children.
On the 1900 census, though, Richard has a different wife, whom he married in 1884.
It looks to me like 1879-08-24 was the marriage date, that they had son Charley some time after the 1880 census, and that Martha died between then and 1884.
