This 26th of Sept 1853 I, Phebe
P Riggsby being of sound & dis-
posing mind & memory & knowing the uncertainty
of life & the certainty of death & having been blessed
with a portion of this worlds goods do constitute &
ordain & declare & publish this my last will &
testament in manner & form following that
is to say

Item the first my will & desire is that my
Executors hereinafter named provide for my body
a decent burial suited to the wishes of my friends
& relatives & pay for the same & my funeral expenses
out of the first money that may come into his
hands from the proceeds of my estate

Item 2nd My will & desire is that all of my
estate consisting of two negroes to wit Edward
aged about twenty four or five years old & Eliza
a girl about 5 or 6 years old with many
other articles of property that is to say all of my
estate of every kind whatsoever be equally divided
to share & share alike amongst the following
persons my children & grand children &
their lawful representatives to wit. Asa S Riggsby
Jos J Riggsby Atlas J Riggsby H D Riggsby Milly
Riggsbee wife of George H Riggsby Julia Cates
wife of Presley T Cates Esperan Riggsby wife of
Alvis Riggsby & daughter of Biddi Kirby Jason
Riggsbee son of Rebecca Lyon now living in Tennessee

Item 3rd And lastly I hereby appoint my worthy
& trusted friend Atlas J Riggsbee to carry this my
last will & testament into effect by taking all
of my estate into his hands & selling the same
to the highest bidders on a credit not less than
nine months requiring bond & good security
of the purchasers & said Executor may divide
said estate at any time amongst said legatees
at any time when he shall think all my just
debts is paid & shall not retain said estate
in his hands more than two years.

In witness I hereby publish declare & ordain this
my last will & testament in the presence of
Turner Bynum & William Norwood in witness
I Phebe P Riggsby do hereunto affix my hand
& seal today & date above written.
