Children of James Hinds and Susan Bowden:

James A Hinds b. 1860-03-00
Mary Elizabeth Hinds b. 1862-10-00
Edward Levi Hinds b. 1865-08-17
Samuel H Hinds b. about 1867-00-00
Ida E Hinds b. 1874-11-00

Notes:

I originally read that he died c1860 in Dade Co MO, but that must be wrong.
[Or else I have the wrong James.]
Apparently he and his wife died before 1880. The census for Cedar Co MO contains several of his children living in other households, and there is no sign of him. I'm guessing that Ida was his daughter based on this.

--
Apparently he also married 1871-01-02 Lydia A Fry, and she then married 1876-04-22 John Phillips.

--
His aunt Abigail married into the Breeding family. It's interesting that Eli would use Breeding for his child's middle name.

1870 census Cedar Co MO p70b
James Hines 35 MO
Susan 27 MO
Amanda J 13 MO
James A 12 MO
Mary E 8 MO
Edward L 5 MO
Samuel H 3 MO

In the household next door is Elizabeth Hines 14 MO. Who is that?

1860 census Henry Co MO
James Hines 24 MO
Susan 22 MO
Amanda J 2 MO
James A 2/12 MO

The 1850 census has two James Hin_s born c1836 MO: this one and James A Hines 14 in Daviess Co MO. James A is s/o Balear? Hines 41 TN.
The 1860 census has James Hines 26 in Daviess Co MO on the same page as Balar? Hines.
Given that Henry Co is next to Johnson Co, where this James' father lived, I think he must be the James in Henry Co.
