Notes:

[R05.2.5]

middle name from death certificate of son John
The name Wilson was not uncommon among this Rigsby branch. I wonder where it came from?

One tree at Ancestry.com says he died 1887-01-23 Allen Co KY.

He was a farmer.
He was also Postmaster of the Motley Post Office of Allen Co.

1856-03-17 John W Rigsby

Apparently son Cuthbert died in the Civil War. He was in the 9th KY infantry, Company J. His pension records show his mother filing for him to 1881-09-07, and then his father to 1885?-07-09. [The date for his father is very hard to read. It might be an 1888, or something else.]

--
On the 1860 Allen Co census page 109 is a family of John Miller age 42 KY with wife and 8 children. They are 4 families away from John W Rigsby. I would guess John Miller is Ann's brother. Between them is the family of T M Oliver 26 KY, and the family of Lafayette Bunch 28 KY.
Lafayette Bunch married Anna Lee Rigsby, granddaughter of this John W through his son John Samuel.
Sarah Oliver, d/o Thomas Oliver, married Garland Rigsby, s/o this John's brother James.

According to a list of Allen Co births, John Miller's wife was Mary A Rigsby. She is probably a sister of this John W Rigsby.

On the 1880 Allen Co KY census, John W's neighbor on one side is Amanda Bunch, and on the other is Thomas Oliver. Thomas Oliver's neighbor is John Burton, and then comes Harrison Burton. Note that John W's wife Ann Miller's mother was a Burton. Are John and Harrison related?

[John 2, Wilson 4, William 5, John T 14, John W 28, Elizabeth 5, Ann 27]

John T is a son of John W's brother James.

Nelson Long is on p 64, and Samuel Miller is on p 70, so clearly the three families lived fairly close to each other.

1830 census Allen Co KY p46
John Rigsby: 1 M <5, 1 M 5-10, 1 M 10-15, 3 M 15-20, 1 M 40-50,
1 F <5, 1 F 5-10, 1 F 10-15, 1 F 20-30, 1 F 40-50

This John should be 18.

Samuel Miller is on p 59.

1820 census Allen Co KY p124
John Rigsby: 3 M <10, 1 M 10-16, 1 M 16-18, 1 M 26-45,
1 F <10, 1 F 10-16, 1 F 26-45

This John should be 8.

On the 1810 census, there is no Allen Co; the area was then in Warren Co. There is no Rigsby or Miller in Warren Co.

On the 1810 census for Pendleton Co is a John Rigsby, with children who appear to match this John's father's family. Perhaps this John was born right before his father left SC for KY, or even on the trip. That would explain why he put both states as his birth place.
