Know ye that, for & in consideration of the sum of one cent per
acre, paid to the office of the entry taker of Smith County and
entered on the 16th day of May 1826 pursuant to the programs of
an act of the county assembly of said state passed on the 22 day of
November 1823 and the act of supplement thereto by No 864
There is granted by the said state of Tennessee unto Lydia Rigsby assignee
of John Perrigan
a certain tract or parcel of land, containing fifty acres
by survey, bearing date of 2d day of April 1827, lying in said county
on the waters of Peyton's Creek and bounded as
follows to wit: Beginning at a beech marked
J P [bolded] at a dry branch running thence east
one hundred poles to a black walnut thence
south eighty poles to a beech thence west
one hundred poles to a stake thence north
eighty poles to the beginning
including a spring
with the hereditaments and appurtenances, to have and hold the said tract or parcel
of land, with its appurtenances, to the said Lydia Rigsby
and her heirs forever.
In witness thereof, Wm Carroll, Governor of the State of Tennessee,
has hereunto set his hand and caused the great seal of the state to be affixed at Nashville,
on the 11th day of September in the year 1827.
