6/13/1776: Charles Burton, of Pittsylvania Co, VA, sold to Hutchins
Burton, of Mecklenburg Co, VA, for 95 pounds, 94 acres in Mecklenburg
and bounded by Middle Bluestone Creek and lands of Crowder, Gregory,
Tanner, Ragsdale. Witnesses: Abram Crowder, John Ragsdale and Thomas
Berry. Recorded in Mecklenburg Co, VA Deed Book 5, page 41.

1782-83: Charles Burton appears as head of a family (5 whites/4 slaves)
in Mecklenburg Co, VA state census.

1782: A Charles Burton (9 whites/4 slaves) appears as head of a family
in Pittsylvania Co, VA state census, a neighbor to Robert Payne.

1/15/1784: Charles Burton, of Pittsy, sold to William Price, of Louisa
County, for 1,000#'s, 300 acres on Dry Fork of Sandy Creek of Dan River,
adjoining Hughes line, John Tomlins line, Halls line. another 352 acres
on branches of Sandy River, adjoining Evens Stokes line, Roberts line,
pine in sd Burtons former line near Piggs Road, Billings old line.
Another 600 acres on both sides of Sandy Creek of Dan River [cut off by
edge of page]. Rockey Branch, Hughes & Winbush lines, Quinns line, on
the main county Road, Roses line, Stockes line. Recorded in Pittsylvania
Co, VA Deed Book 7, page 201.

4/10/1789: Hopkins Bright sold to Charles Burton, both of Spartanburgh
Co, for 200 pds, 283 acres in District 96 on the north side of the Saluda
River, on Ward's Creek of Tyger River, grant 11/4/1786 to Hopkins Bright.
Witnesses: William Burton, Nath Burton, Aaron Pinson. Recorded in
Spartanburg Co, SC Deed Book B, page 296-7.

4/10/1789: Allbartus Bright sold to Charles Burton Sr, for 300 pds, 400
acres on the south side of Tyger River, grant 12/5/1785 to Allbartus
Bright. Witnesses: William Burton, Nath Burton, Aaron Pinson. Recorded
in Spartanburg Co, SC Deed Book B, page 297-8.

1/17/1793: Charles Burton sold to Cutbert Burton, for 300 pd, 400 acres
on the north side of Tyger River, granted 12/5/1785 to Allburtus Bright.
Wit: John Cates, Andrew Thomson, John Esterwood. Recorded in Spartanburg
Co, SC Deed Book C, page 226-7.

10/9/1793: page 80 (p.227-229 Oct. 9, 1793), John WILLIAMS (Spartanburgh)
to Charles BURTON; for 60 pounds SC money sold 300 acres on south fork
of Tyger River; border: SW-William HENDRICKS and others vacant; grant
May 13, 1763 to John MILLHAEN in Barkly Co. Wit: Cutbert BURTON, Charles
BURTON, and Andrew THOMSON. Recorded in Spartanburg Co, SC Deed Book C,
