from Linn genforum:
One document on Indian captives (in rootsweb) is a direct quote from William Clinkenbeard, Jr., the son of Mary and William Sr. He talks about how his uncles, Thomas and Isaac, were captured by Indians in Frederick Co, Maryland. Isaac Linn (age 10) stayed with the Indians for 12 years but somehow returned. Thomas was beaten and blinded during the attack. Mary, wife of William Clinkenbeard, contracted a "fatal malady" from exposure at the time of Isaac's kidnapping and died (1763). William Jr. talks about how his father remarried and he eventually went to live with them near Shepherdstown. (William remarried a woman named Hester van Metre in 1766 and proceded to have 6 more children.)
