Deaths

Died, on the 16th Dec, inst, at her residence in
Sandy tp of a protracted illness, Mrs Osee Wel-
ker, relict of the late Henry Welker, aged 59 yrs
and 4 months. She was born in Washington co
Pa in 1793 -- emigrated, with her family to Jeffer-
son co, and from thence to Stark -- on the 3d Oct
1811 was married to Henry Welker. -- He died in
1827, leaving her with 9 children to mourn her irre-
parable loss. From that time she ever strove to
rear her family, and instill into their minds the im-
portance of living christian lives. As a woman she
had few equals, possessing those kind feelings of
heart which elevated her to no ordinary standing in
the society in which she lived; As a mother also
affectionate and kind, and her loss will be felt in
the wounded and bleeding hearts of a disconsolate
family, until in death it shall cease to vibrate. But
blessed are they that die in the Lord. Some 35 yrs
since she united herself with the Methodist Epis-
copal church, and we trust is now enjoying that
perfect happiness at God's right hand, which He
has reserved for all who love him appearing. There-
fore her children and friends mourn not as those
without hope -- and although they mourn, they find
that it is the will of the Father of Mercies.

"Who treasure up his bright designs,
And works His Sovereign will"

On the 18th her remains were laid in the Wesley
Chapel grave yard, attended by a concourse of rela-
tives, friends, and neighbors, there to rest until the
resurrection morn.
