Many genealogies have her last name as Higgins. It appears the original source of this is a compilation
called "U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900", a copy of which is at Ancestry.com. I
checked the entry, and its source is a Family Group Sheet submitted by an individual. It is thus at best a
secondary source, and can't be considered proof.

Some genealogies say she was born 1709. That date was fabricated by adding 4 years to Joseph's birth.
I originally found her birth date as 1718, but that would make her 13 when Charity was born. (Not that
that's impossible.) I don't remember where I got the 1714 date.
Some say she died in 1772, but clearly that's wrong as Joseph's will mentions his second wife Susanna.

has her born in Guilford Co NJ, died 1759 to 1763

If she's a Higgins, possible father: Daniel Higgins, living in Elizabethtown NJ at same time as Joseph Hinds.

It seems her last name probably was not Higgins. The Higgins family of NJ is very well documented, and
there is no Rutha marrying a Hinds listed anywhere.

In the McClung Library Hinds papers is a note to John Hines (presumably John Henry) from "your friend
and cousin Jacob Baldwin". He could be a son of Rutha's brother or sister, or of Joseph's sister.
There was a Baldwin family in Mendham NJ at approximately the same time, but I haven't been able to
find a Ruth yet.
This RootsWeb entry has a Caleb Baldwin with daughters born in Mendham. His wife was a Beach, and his
grandmother was Ruth Bottsford. There is a Ruth Baldwin, d/o Elnathan Baldwin c1687 + Keziah
Prudden, but she is shown married to Richard Burt.
There were other Baldwin families in other parts of Morris Co as well.
