History of Roane County, c1928 Carol Wells:
In 1792 John Hinds, a revolutionary soldier, came with his sons Sylvanus, Joseph, Simeon, and John Jr
to Roane County. He made an entry for 1000 acres of land which became known as Hinds Valley
(Shouldn't that be Levi, not Joseph?)
--
another researcher sends:
A newspaper article from "Rockwood Times" of Rockwood, TN, 28 Aug 1924 stated that when John Hinds arrived in Tennessee to claim the 1,000 acres of land granted for services during the American Revolution in the year 1792 that he was accompanied by "4 sons, 2 daughters, and a brother-in-law named Joseph Seaton."
--
If John Henry had a brother-in-law named Joseph Seaton, either Joseph married John's sister, or John married Joseph's sister. I don't show any of John's sisters marrying a Seaton. DNA says Abigail was a Bayless. Elizabeth must be the Seaton. Note his son by her was Joseph S Hinds. S for Seaton? Maybe she was first married to a Thomas? But note the marriage record doesn't call her Mrs Thomas.
