Notes:
married in Smith County TN
[Smith Co at the time comprised the current-day counties of Clay and Jackson, plus most of Pickett,
Overton, Putnam, Smith, and Macon, and some of Trousdale, Fentress, and DeKalb. The southwest
half of current Smith Co was then in Wilson. Most likely Levi married in the part that is now Overton Co.
Records for Overton Co for that time period are missing. Smith Co court minutes exist for 1799-1804 and
have been published by the Works Progress Administration.]

The Kay Lamb book shows a daughter Rutha b between 1804 and 1810. The 1820 census shows only two daughters in this range, who must be Jane and Abigail.

Fentress Co Deed Book A p56 (1827)
On December 25, 1821, John R.
Thurman, of Cumberland Co KY, loans $1000.00 to Levi
Hinds. Levi posts several tracts of land (totaling 327 acres) as mortgage, including
the land that Hinds lived upon. At the time of the loan, Levi Hinds was living in a
part of Overton Co TN which became Fentress Co TN. When Levi paid off the
loan in 1827, John R. Thurman signed the land back over to Levi's son, William
Hinds at Levi's insistence.
[Note: William married about 1821. Did the loan have anything to do with that?]
