Notes:

For a long time I thought this was not Abigail Bayless d/o Daniel, because I thought she had to be sister of John Henry's brother-in-law Joseph Seaton. In addition, there is proof that Abigail Bayless married James Frier.

from this page
James Frier's 1771 will binds his son Daniel to Daniel's uncle Robert Muir, and his son Robert to Robert's uncle George Kilgore.
Deed records show that James Frier's wife was named Abigail. Other records show Robert Muir's wife was named Phoebe, and George Kilgore's wife was named Martina Baylis.
The executor of Robert Muir's will was John Bayless, and John Bayless was a witness for the will of James Frier.
John Bayless was son of Daniel Bayless and Johanna Lake, and had sisters Phoebe 1737, Martina 1741, and Abigail 1744. These ages all match estimates of the wives of Robert Muir, George Kilgore, and James Frier.

However, Dad has 11 DNA matches from 4 different children of Daniel Bayless and Johanna Lake. He also has 4 matches from Robert Frier s/o James. So John Henry must have married Abigail Bayless as her second husband. That poses two problems.

The first is that John Henry's will says his first child was daughter Hannah, who was born before 1771, and thus before he married Abigail. He may have had an earlier wife (maybe the Seaton), but a cleaner explanation is that Hannah was Abigail's daughter from her first marriage. James Frier's will names a daughter Hannah. Dad has DNA matches to John Henry's daughter Susannah (born 1772), but not his daughter Hannah. The problem with this explanation is that if John Henry's will names Abigail's daughter Hannah, why not her son Robert? It could be because Robert was bound out to another family, but John Henry would have raised Hannah.

The second problem is this record:

Loudoun Co VA
Order Book E p249
Fryer, James. His late relict, Abigail Self, appears in court. 12 Nov 1771

She appeared to renounce her share in James Fryer's estate. A 1777 document shows that Joseph Self was paid out of the estate of James Fryer for keeping Phoebe and Hannah until the age of 7. Apparently Abigail married Joseph Self, but she must have divorced him very soon after the above record.

The issue is that John Henry Hinds bought land in Guilford Co NC in June of that year. I'm sure he was really in the county, since his father wrote his will there the year before. So Abigail had to get from Loudoun Co VA to Guilford Co NC (a little over 200 miles) and marry John Henry in time to have a daughter the next year. Even if Susannah was really born in 1773, that's cutting it very fine.

John Bayless was in Loudoun Co VA and ended up in Washington Co TN. Depending on the timing and his exact route, Abigail conceivably could have traveled with him as far as Guilford Co NC and there met and married John Henry Hinds.
